Duties:

Ensure Customer First principles are maintained and developed on at every level within the department
Plan and implement import strategy activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the organisation
Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities;
Liaise with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant relationships, as well as supporting the organisation's strategic and overall operating functions.
Produce and analyse statistics or other data to determine the level of customer service the import organisation is providing, including the issue of predefined weekly reports on KPI's and vessel figures.
Manage and action all import supplier and port invoices
Investigate and solve customers' problems, which may be complex or long standing problems that have been referred to you.
Develop customer service procedures, policies and standards for your department.
The successful candidate must have strong managerial experience, have excellent time management skills, be articulate and planning and have excellent organisational skills.

The role will require a candidate who has hands on operational experience of working in seafreight imports and is able to process shipments from start to finish. From initial enquiring and taking bookings, negotiating rates, liaising with agents overseas and shipping lines, arranging collections and deliveries, raising and processing documentation and commercial invoices, Customs Clearances etc.
Working with the Seafreight Import Manager, this role will also include liaising with Customers and resolving and issues that may arise, assisting members of the team, leading by example and mentoring and training. In the absence of the Manager the Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the Seafreight Import operation and team.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of Freight Forwarding and biased to Seafreight Import operations, having gained extensive hands on experience of handling shipments from start to finish, strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example and draw the best from other members of the team.
